Lisa is an assistant professor at CHANGE Leiden. As developing and maintaining peer relationships is one of the most developmental tasks for adolescents, Elisabeth (Lisa) Schreuders seeks to understand how peer relationships shape decision-making processes and appraisal of social situations. An overarching research question is “How do friendships and experiences of peer victimization (that is, being bullied) affect adolescents’ social and emotional well-being?” Lisa studies this from a biopsychosocial perspective using neuroimaging and techniques to assess immune system functioning. Using these techniques, Lisa aims to obtain a better understanding of how prior peer experiences and one’s social network affect fundamental processes underlying social development.
